Light in the Night 2008
Some stories from LITN host sites!
What a night! God was glorified and our neighbors were shown His love with no strings attached! We witnessed the darkness being driven back and God’s light shinning brightly. We experienced the coming together of several local church bodies and ministries in unity for His glory alone. And we were blessed!
We even were able to join with local fire companies and the Salvation Army and were able to pray for them and were blessed to get to know them too as we spent the evening together blessing our neighbors and shinning His light!
The people of Calvary Birdsboro are still talking about this night and were thankful to be part of it. The people of Birdsboro were touched too. One young father asked, “Why are the churches all doing this?” (Birdsboro churches had Safe Zones at three churches within walking distance) My response was, “We are working together as churches here in Birdsboro and tonight was an opportunity to show God’s love to each of our own neighborhoods.” He was amazed and very thankful. The response of all the neighbors was pretty much the same and their kids had a great time playing games and getting lots of treats.
The best part is that it is so easy to do and involved very little planning or manpower to be very effective. We can’t wait for next year and are even contemplating doing something like this during the summer.

Light in the night was a great start for the Churches of Schwenksville. It was a success in and we learned a lot for next year.

The celebration began Friday Night with our "Light in the Night" Halloween Alternative at the South Street Park.
Much to our surprise we had a very large crowd. In fact, we somehow were able to feed some 200 people with some hamburgers and hotdogs. There were games and face painting and a prayer tent set up to minister to who came to see what was going on.
The worship team played and everyone had a wonderful time. We found it very interesting that many of the homeless found us at the South Street Park. Some came to us High, some intoxicated, some just because they were hopeless in their condition. I was very surprised to see more adults then children coming to the event.
Blessings,

I am Missy from Horizon Church and we were in Salisbury Township, which is basically the eastern section of Allentown. We had three locations set up around the Harry S. Truman School which is where we meet for church, Horizonconnect.org.
We all had a blast, we had about 16 people from our church at the three locations, we handed out 300 treat bags, 300 glow necklaces, hot coffee, cider, snacks and had fun talking to all the kids and parents. After listening to the broadcast all night we realized we can put way more into this next year and make this a much bigger event, so I really hope you guys do this again, cause we want to!

Hi , I just wanted to say that our Light in the Night event on 10/30/08 which was located at 1106 4th Avenue, Oberlin Gardens, PA., turned out pretty good. We had bright lights, Free Hot Cocoa, Hotdogs and water as well as candy for the kids and mini Jesus flashlights, etc...We also had a table of free literature for adults which had Bibles, tracks, CD's, Biblical information, etc...
We've had people say they have never seen anything like this before. That, this was so nice of us to have in that area. Many were impressed. Though there were no games for the kids, they seemed to really enjoy their treats and Hot dogs as well as Hot Cocoa. The adults seemed very grateful for the Hot Cocoa since the night was getting very chilly.
I know that word will spread and next year, God willing, we'll have it again and I know God will send more people out to us so I'm pretty sure we're going to be twice as busy as we were this time.
May God bless you,
Sincerely,
Mayra.

On Thursday night, October 30th here in Emmaus we held our first Light in the Night at Kingdom Life Worship Center. I was truly blessed, seeing 100% from the volunteers from our church that we started back in May of 2008. For Light in the Night we had 5 games, free hotdogs, popcorn, donuts, hot chocolate, coffee, and lots of candy. We had Word FM playing from our sound system that we had hooked up. An Officer from the Emmaus Police Department was with us for a time. He brought pencils and Jr. Badges for the children. He thought this event was great! I would estimate around 200- 250 people stopped by. Many asked us if we were going to do this next year, I said God willing “Yes and it will be even bigger.”
I got to pray with a man named, George. This elderly woman was with her grandchildren; I could see that she was having a hard time. I asked her how she was doing. She said that today was her birthday. Her husband died a while ago, She misses him very much. So my wife and I put our arms around her and I prayed that Jesus would touch and comfort her. Some families stayed 10 minutes, but a couple families stayed for about 45 minutes. The children were having a ball, my Congregation was having fun just reaching out to the moms and dads and their children. We were so blessed to see all the children smiling, laughing and having fun. Also, Praise God!
We look forward to next year to do it again, to not only bring Light in the Night but also to see New Lives in the Kingdom of God!!
